The Board of Directors and staff at Choices for Youth (CFY) are pleased to release our 2022-23 Annual Report. It has been an amazing year exemplified by tremendous work, all focused on supporting youth and young families who come to CFY for assistance.

 

Along with the work and accomplishments highlighted in the following report, CFY also wishes to celebrate and thank our many partners as we continue to build out our collective efforts on behalf of the community. Once again, through our growing partnerships, CFY is delivering on its federal commitment to support social innovation across Newfoundland and Labrador.

We also wish to acknowledge the commitment and determination of all our staff and volunteers at CFY. What we offer to others in our community reflects all their hard work, expertise, passion, and dedication.

Reflecting on the last year at CFY, we are proud of the work accomplished towards updating CFY’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) commitments through an in-depth process of consulting with youth, staff, board members, and community stakeholders. This work continues through CFY’s newly released five-year Strategic Plan (2023-28) and its commitment to develop a long-term EDI Strategy.

 

While the year held many celebratory moments, it is also true that the needs of many in our community continue to increase in ways that are concerning. For this reason, the path set in our strategic plan committing to increased housing and supports, continued investment in early intervention and prevention, and strong investment in scaling our mental health services, becomes even more critical in helping youth and families thrive by reducing harm as early as possible.

 

Coming out of this strategic planning process, we are deeply appreciative of the many hours and contributions from our youth, community, government, and national partners in shaping the vision and commitments which will guide CFY for the next five years.

 

Lastly, congratulations and thank you to all the youth and families who continue to put their trust in us and strive to achieve brighter futures. That is the motivation that keeps us all inspired.
