CFY reaches first ever Collective Agreement
Choices for Youth (CFY) reached its first collective agreement in April 2022. Under this collective agreement, employees at CFY’s supportive housing building, The Lilly, are now represented by the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE).
Since the collective agreement was signed, CFY leadership and Human Resources have been navigating the roles and responsibilities of themselves, CFY staff, and NAPE representatives, to ensure that we are upholding our responsibilities as outlined.
The process has been collaborative, cooperative, and enlightening for all involved. Voices from the new Labour Management Committee have been especially helpful in navigating these new relationships and dynamics.
The CFY Shelter team has also voted to become unionized, and we continue to work with all parties involved to reach an agreement with these staff.

“Completing and implementing our first collective bargaining agreement this year has allowed all involved staff to have a voice, engage in discussion, and ultimately shape how we can improve the youth and staff experience at CFY. We look forward to continuing to build relationships with all parties involved to ensure the needs of staff and youth are being met.”
